More time has been requested again for the mother and the man charged in the death of Elijah Vue.
Both 32-year-old Katrina Baur and 40-year-old Jesse Vang were back in a Manitowoc County courtroom for a status conference.
Attorney Amber Gratz told Judge Anthony Lambrecht that she still needs more time to look through the evidence against Baur before she wants to move forward.
The attorney for Vang said he’s ready to file motions but still needs some more time before starting.
Judge Lambrecht set another status conference for Baur for December 1st, while Vang won’t return until January for a scheduling conference.
Both were arrested in February last year after Elijah was first reported missing.
They were facing charges of child neglect; however, those charges were changed after Vue’s remains were found in the Town of Two Rivers, Kristi Bob Lane, and Manitou Drive in September 2024.
Vang now faces charges of physical assault of a child causing death, hiding a corpse, child neglect, and resisting or obstructing a police officer.
He’s accused of putting Elijah through physical and mental anguish as Vang tried to correct Elijah’s “bad behavior.”
Baur is facing charges of neglecting a child, with a consequence being death, child neglect, and two counts of resisting or obstructing an officer.
Elijah’s death has been ruled a homicide by unspecified means.
