A truck driver charged with hitting and killing two people after running a red light is going to trial.
FOX11 reports that 64-year-old John Litza faces two counts of homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle for the crash that happened in March this year.
Yesterday (September 24th), an Outagamie County judge found probable cause and bound Litza over for arraignment, although a date was not set.
Emergency crews were sent to West Wisconsin Avenue and North McCarthy Road in Grand Chute at 10:45 a.m. for the two-vehicle crash involving a semi and a minivan.
A couple in the minivan died, and witnesses said Litza, who was allegedly driving the semi, ran the red light and caused the crash.
According to video on the semi, Litza slowed down from 55 mph in the right lane of West Wisconsin Avenue as he approached the intersection.
As he entered the intersection, the white van in front of him and graphs showed his speed at 40 mph before the semi collided into the van at 38 mph.
A criminal complaint says Litza never attempted to swerve and hit the van directly at its side.
However, the complaint does allege that the weather could have played a factor.
