Leaders from across the Northeast United States and Canada, including Sheboygan’s Mayor, are in New York to unveil a new economic plan for the Great Lakes Region.
Mayor Ryan Sorenson and other members of the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Cities Initiative are in New York today (September 24th), where they will launch the Fresh Coast Economic Transformation Action Plan.
This plan aims to strengthen and expand the Great Lakes region’s economic base by attracting industries in need of access to freshwater.
It will also adopt innovative practices to drive approximately 18 million new jobs while also minimizing waste and protecting the freshwater resources.
Mayor Sorenson, who serves as the Co-Chair of the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Cities Initiative Board of Directors, will be joined at the launch event by other notable leaders with close ties to the Great Lakes, such as the Mayor of Chicago, Brandon Johnson, Mayor Justin Bibb of Cleveland, Montréal Mayor Valérie Plante, and the Deputy Mayor of Toronto, Paul Ainslie.
