Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson has unveiled his proposed 2026 budget.
He put out the budget on Tuesday, outlining a $2 billion plan aimed at closing a $100 million budget gap.
To help offset the shortfall, the budget suggests raising fees for vehicle registration, garbage collection, and snow removal.
It also includes funding for a new library on the city’s northwest side and investments in housing initiatives.
Community members are invited to weigh in during a public hearing at City Hall on October 6.
