The City of Two Rivers is conducting a large-scale fall cleanup.
The City Council took action last week with a budget amendment that transfers $40,000 into the Urban Forestry Fund, enabling the city to remove dead and hazardous trees in parks, cemeteries, and along select neighborhood streets.
City Manager Kyle Kordell explained that the funds come from the remaining budget allocated to the currently vacant Community Development Director position, so no ongoing services are impacted.
It enables the city to respond quickly by bringing in outside help and expediting removals.
Kordell says that way the city can protect people, reduce liability, and make public spaces safer.
After the cleanup, it should allow for better open spaces that promote healthier tree growth and ensure parks and streets remain beautiful and safe for everyone.
