
Erwin J. Schuette Jr., age 80, a Manitowoc resident, passed away Monday, September 15, 2025 at the Meng Unity Hospice Residence, De Pere.
He was born January 17, 1945 in Manitowoc, son of the late Erwin and Josephine (Graykowski) Schuette. Erwin attended Lincoln High School, graduating with the class of 1963. On August 27, 1966 he married Sharon K. Wilcox in Michigan. He enlisted in the United State Army. Erwin was employed with Hamilton, Dan Haese Builder, and in 1976 started his own business, Erv Schuette Builders, building homes. In business and in life, Erv was kind and would help anyone in need. He was an active member of numerous gun clubs and enjoyed trapshooting, walleye fishing tournaments, and hunting deer, bear, wild hogs, ducks, geese, and pheasants. After retirement he enjoyed making boats and corner cabinets with shelves and spending time with his dog, Taz. He also made special frames for puzzles he did. Many of his items were made for family and friends as well as donated to different banquets. He also enjoyed coin collecting.
Erwin is survived by the mother of his children and his partner: Sharon Schuette; his son: Patrick J. Schuette (special friend Kathie Klein Dykstra), Iowa; his daughter: Pauline (Michael) Hope, Wyoming; grandchildren: Raven L. Schuette (Fiancé Dylan Whitaker) and Ethan (Tara) Vanlaarhoven; one great-granddaughter: Ellie Vanlaarhoven; three brothers: James Schuette, Robert (Clare) Schuette, Gregory (Jane) Schuette; one sister: Mary Hebert; one sister-in-law: Kathy Schuette; one brother-in-law: James Tuschl; Sharon’s siblings: Joyce (Leonard) Schaub, Daniel Commins (special friend Mary Lou), and Robert (Sylvia) Wilcox; Goddaughters: Melissa Berge and Cristina Kanethavong; and special friends: Jeff Hendrickson and Shawn Wagner, who were very special in Erv and Sharon’s hearts. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Erwin and Josephine Schuette; sisters: June (Tony) Anthony, Nancy (Kenneth) Lee, JoAnne (Roger) Thom, Jacqueline (Howard) Schroeder, and Karen Tuschl; brothers: Gerald (Elizabeth) Schuette and Guy Schuette; sister-in-law: Nancy Schuette; brother-in-law: James Hebert; Goddaughter: Yolanda Schroeder; as well as other relatives and friends.
Cremation has occurred at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory, Manitowoc, and a life celebration social will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 26, 2025 at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 N. Water Street, Manitowoc. Please join the family for food, refreshments and to remember the life of Erv.
