The SS Badger was damaged in a crash with another historic vessel at the Ludington Harbor.
The Badger made contact with the SS Spartan during a docking procedure at around 6:50 Wednesday night (September 17th) and sustained damage to the sea gate.
The extent of the damage is currently being assessed by marine engineers to determine the necessary repairs and to ensure the vessel’s continued safe operation.
Thom Hawley from Lake Michigan Carferry, which operates the Badger, noted, “We are grateful that no one was harmed in this incident. The safety of our passengers and crew is our top priority. We are working with the relevant authorities to investigate the cause of this collision and to implement any necessary preventative measures.”
The Bader is expected to return to full service between Ludington, Michigan, and Manitowoc today.
