A Two Rivers coaching legend will be honored Friday night.
A celebration of life will be held Friday night for Two Rivers High School football coach and educator Jerry Bonino when the Raiders host the Wrightstown Tigers on the field named in his honor.
Bonino, who passed away July 16th at the age of 86, led Two Rivers to three consecutive state high school football championships from 1980 to 1982.
In fact, Two Rivers became the first school in state history to win three consecutive WIAA state football titles.
Bonino came to Two Rivers via Xavier High School in Appleton and coached and taught student-athletes for 27 years before retiring in 1995.
His many honors include induction into both the Lakeshore All-Sports and Wisconsin Football Coaches Association Halls of Fame.
Two Rivers Athletic Director Blake Van Vooren is encouraging anyone who played for Coach Bonino to write a reflection on his legacy and the impact that Coach Bonino had and continues to have on their lives.
They will be read and shared throughout Friday night’s game, along with recognition to be given to coaches and all who were part of those Raider state championship teams.
