Richard “Dick” P. Kunz, age 80, a Manitowoc resident, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2025 at his home.
He was born March 21, 1945 in the Town of Kossuth, Manitowoc County, son of the late Ladimir and Dorothy (Belonger) Kunz. Dick attended Lincoln High School graduating with the class of 1963. In 1965 he married Nancy Kaminski. They later divorced but remained good friends over the years. Richard was a strong, hardworking man. He was employed as a supervisor at Tecumseh Products Company in New Holstein until his retirement in 2000. After retirement he assisted with maintenance at Green Street Food & Spirits. In his younger days he enjoyed camping, racing snowmobiles, and took pride in his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He also had a passion for cars and having them restored. Richard had a positive impact on many people during his life. He was an amazing teacher and loved to share his knowledge. He loved spending time with his friends like going to Green Street for boys night out and playing pranks on Nancy and Sherry. Dick was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #706 of Manitowoc.
While Richard was never blessed with children of his own, he was a father at heart to Alexis, Jordan and Emily. He enjoyed being a part of the milestones in their lives and always kept in contact with them even as they got older. In fact, Richard was excited to announce that he was to become a grandpa in December to Emily’s daughter. He loved the friendships he had made over the years and enjoyed spending holidays and birthdays with the Koehler’s, Moore’s, and other special friends.
