Twenty-seven people were booked into jail after a massive drug sting through the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.
The department coordinated a multi-jurisdiction drug interdiction task force back on August 19th, which led to 74 traffic stops and numerous arrests. Seven people were arrested for possession with intent to deliver different drugs like MDMA (ecstasy), methamphetamine, THC, and cocaine. 11 people were arrested just for possession of drugs.
At the same time, others were taken into custody for misdemeanor drug possession, felony bail jumping, and delivering articles to inmates.
In total, 59 grams of meth, 80 grams of cocaine, 176 grams of THC, 84 grams of MDMA, and 16 grams of fentanyl were seized during the nine-hour operation.
Individuals arrested came from around northeastern Wisconsin and included one person from Two Rivers.
During one arrest, a suspect attempted to flee from sheriffs’ deputies, which required two deputies to fire their Taser on the I-41 northbound ramp near West Johnson Street.
Another traffic stop involved a woman getting into a truck before it was pulled over by a sheriff’s deputy for a registration violation.
Officers believe she might have been involved in a prostitution related crime based on the interaction with deputies and because the woman and driver didn’t know each other.
Fond du Lac County Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt explains that the department remains committed to working together to combat illegal drug trafficking and other associated crimes.
The sheriff continues explaining that sheriffs will continue collaborating with our law enforcement partners, as these crimes not only destroy lives and families, but also involve illegal firearms/weapons possession and trade, human trafficking, prostitution, money laundering, and other violent crimes.
He also thanked the jail staff and dispatchers for their work catching and jailing those involved.
