A longstanding business in Downtown Sheboygan will be demolished next month.
Taylor Zeinert, the City’s Director of Planning and Development, has shared that the demolition of the former Inn of Sheboygan and Fountain Park Restaurant at the corner of Ontario Avenue and North 8th Street will begin on October 6th.
This move will clear the way for the construction of a 104-room Marriott hotel developed by Waterside Hospitality LLC.
This redevelopment is planned to also include a rooftop restaurant and a distillery on the first floor.
Zeinert goes on to say that this move falls in line with the City’s desire to drive new economic activity and increase Sheboygan’s tourism industry.
She also said, “Removing the Inn of Sheboygan allows us to prepare the site for an investment that will create jobs, attract visitors, and strengthen our Downtown economy.”
At this time, construction on the new hotel is scheduled to begin in the spring of next year and is anticipated to open by September of 2027.
