
Manitowoc residents are behaving a little better than they did last year.
The Manitowoc Police Department’s monthly report shows that there were 2,516 calls for service in August this year, compared to 2,847 by this time last year.
The yearly calls for service are also down compared to this time last year, with 18,932 people calling the Joint Dispatch Center.
The total number of calls was 21,591 last year.
Adult criminal charges are also down from August 2025 compared to the same period the previous year, but only slightly.
This August, there were 142 adult charges, compared to 149 in August 2024.
The total number of adult criminal charges remains lower compared to the year-to-date total of 1,298.
As of 2025, there have been 1,115 adult charges.
When it comes to juvenile charges, there were four reported in August last year, but Manitowoc Police reported three the previous month.
Police records indicate that the total number of juvenile charges is significantly down this year, with only 52 reported so far.
The year-to-date total this time last year was 154.
