Manitowoc Police K9 Rolo has helped get some more drugs off the street.
A police officer was patrolling in the area of North 21st Street and Menasha Avenue when they spotted a vehicle belonging to a man with two active warrants for his arrest.
However, a different man was behind the wheel, who was said to be shaking, stuttering his words, and became “extremely sweaty” when approached.
The 28-year-old man said he was on his way from a friend’s residence, which is located in a known drug area, and that he had gotten permission from that man, a different individual from the owner of the vehicle, to drive it.
The man denied a search request, but then K9 Rolo was called to the scene and gave an alert on the vehicle.
A subsequent search uncovered 14.5 grams of fentanyl, multiple pieces of drug paraphernalia, including syringes and a scale, and $482 in cash.
A search of the man in the system revealed he had six previous convictions on controlled substance charges.
He was subsequently arrested on charges of Possession with Intent to Deliver a Schedule 1 or 2 Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and being a Repeat Drug Offender.
