Charges filed against one corrections worker at the Waupun Correctional Institution in connection with an inmate’s death have been dismissed.
WBAY reports that the Dodge County District Attorney’s Office announced charges against then-warden Randall Hepp and eight employees last year, stating that the state’s oldest prison was being operated dangerously and recklessly.
Prosecutors dropped charges against Alexander Hollfelder yesterday (September 15), stating that he was on family leave for part of the time in question.
Charges against another worker were also dismissed earlier this year.
Hepp reached a plea deal in his case and paid a $500 fine for a misdemeanor charge.
Five cases against correctional staff are still in the court system.
