Manitowoc Police have made an arrest in a vehicle theft case, but there are more questions than answers.
Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 900 block of South 20th Street to investigate the alleged theft of a truck.
The victim said they lent the truck to two friends, who reported it missing at around 7:30 Saturday morning (September 13th).
The truck was later located at Blue Rail Park, where a man was seen sitting within walking distance of it.
The man matched a photo supplied by the victim, who had stopped by the victim’s house previously for unknown reasons.
The man, who did not speak English, gave multiple identities to the police through a translator, and admitted that at least one of them was fake.
He also reportedly admitted to taking the truck without permission as the victim owed him money.
The man was arrested as a John Doe, as there was no record of the name he gave in the system, on charges of Operating a Vehicle Without the Owner’s Consent, Resisting or Obstructing an Officer, and Possession of THC.
