Lakeland University will be looking to create a safer community with an upcoming event.
The inaugural Lakeland Faculty Lecture will be held on October 7th at Jake’s, a Lakeland Community, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The discussion will be led by Assistant Professor of Communication Aimee Burns-Boisvert, who will provide an interactive talk entitled Creating Safer Communities: Conversations on Intimate Partner Violence (IPV).
In the U.S., more than one in three women and one in four men have experienced IPV in their lifetimes.
This can come in the form of sexual abuse, psychological aggression, and stalking an intimate partner.
During the discussion, Burns-Boisvert plans to talk about these forms of IPV, the effects they have, and more.
This event is open to the public and free to attend.
It will also be the first of many Lakeland Faculty Lectures, a new series allowing a faculty member to highlight an area of their expertise.
