The Wisconsin Department of Justice is continuing their investigation into a fatal shooting in the Town of Peshtigo in Marinette County.
The DOJ reports that officers in Marinette County were attempting to find a vehicle related to a suspicious death in Dane County.
An officer with the Marinette Police Department found the vehicle in the city at 9:12 a.m. on August 29th and attempted to stop it.
The vehicle fled, leading multiple law enforcement officers on a high-speed chase along Highway 41.
The suspect, 23-year-old Andrew Lloyd Collamore, crashed the vehicle and got out to approach officers.
During the encounter, one officer with the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office deployed a Taser, which was ineffective, which led to two Marinette Police Officers firing their guns.
Collamore was wounded and taken to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
A sharp-edged weapon was found at the scene.
No law enforcement officers were injured during the incident.
Officers were wearing body cameras at the time.
All law enforcement is fully cooperating with the DOJ’s Department of Criminal Investigations.
DCI is continuing to review evidence and determine the facts of the incident and will then turn the investigative reports over to the Marinette County District Attorney’s Office.
