
A man wanted for murder in Chicago has been apprehended in Menasha.
The Menasha Police Department has said that they were notified by the FBI Chicago Violent Crime Fugitive Task Force that an individual on their Top Ten Fugitive list may be in the Menasha area.
The individual, a 23-year-old Illinois resident, was then located yesterday (September 10th) in the early morning hours in the 800 block of Plank Road.
Authorities were able to confirm his identity, and he was brought into custody without incident before being booked in the Winnebago County Jail.
In a news release, Menasha PD stated that the unnamed 23-year-old was wanted by the FBI for First-Degree Murder in Riverdale, Illinois.
Following the arrest, Menasha Chief of Police Nick Thorn said, “Public safety is always our top priority. When we received this information, our officers immediately began planning for a safe arrest. I commend their excellent work in protecting our community and removing this dangerous individual.”
He continued to attribute this arrest to the cooperation between law enforcement and how crucial it is to keep streets in Menasha and abroad safe.
