
Sheboygan’s Mayor will be on hand in New York City later this month to help launch a new economic plan for the Great Lakes and surrounding communities.
The Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Cities Initiative will be gathering in New York on September 24th to unveil the Fresh Coast Economic Transformation Action Plan.
The aim of this plan is to strengthen and expand the Great Lakes region’s economic base by attracting industries that need access to the freshwater resources.
Outlined in the plan is the desire to adopt innovative practices to create 18 million new jobs throughout the U.S. and Canada, minimize waste, and protect the freshwater resources provided by the Great Lakes.
Mayor Ryan Sorenson of Sheboygan, who serves as the Co-Chair of the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Cities Initiative Board of Directors, will be present for the presentation, while featured speakers at the event will include the Mayor of Chicago, Brandon Johnson, Mayor Justin Bibb of Cleveland, Montréal Mayor Valérie Plante, and the Deputy Mayor of Toronto, Paul Ainslie.
The Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Cities Initiative was created to promote economic prosperity in the surrounding communities while protecting fresh water for this and future generations to come.
