Habitat for Humanity Lakeside recently received a major donation.
Richard and Kristin Bemis gifted the Sheboygan-based organization $1 million in the form of a four-year pledge.
This money will go towards supporting Habitat Lakeside’s ambitious strategic plan, which calls for building five affordable homes a year beginning in 2027, as well as the organization’s affordable home-repair programs.
Richard noted that the duo has “seen firsthand how home ownership has provided emotional and financial stability to families and are looking forward to expanding Habitat for Humanity Lakeside’s program to provide affordable housing throughout Sheboygan County.”
Le’Shay Guy, the Executive Director of Habitat Lakeside, voiced her appreciation to the Bemis’s, while the organization’s Construction Manager, Jon Hoffman, said, “The Bemis’s generosity will help us broaden our shoulders and reach more people like Kewanna (Ashford)” who will be the recipient of Habitat Lakeside’s 53rd home.
The wall raising for that home will be held at 818 North 27th Street in Sheboygan on Friday (September 12th).
The ceremony will begin at 4:00 p.m.
