Representatives Shae Sortwell and Sylvia Ortiz-Valez
A state representative from an area is supporting a Milwaukee state legislator who left the Wisconsin Assembly Democratic caucus.
WisPolitics reported that Milwaukee Democrat Representative Sylvia Ortiz-Velez was banned from the state Capitol because of a threat she was accused of making involving a gun.
2nd District Assemblyman Shae Sortwell said on his Facebook page that while he disagreed on a lot with Ortiz-Velez, they’ve been able to work on several bills despite differences.
He also said he is “100% convinced that the accusations coming from radicals in her party are false and yet another attempt to silence her” because she’s been willing to stand up for what she thought was right.
Ortiz-Velez has called the accusations against her “laughable” and has since left the caucus.
