A crash in Manitowoc over the weekend resulted in an OWI arrest.
Officers were called to the intersection of South 12th and Madison Streets just before 11:00 Friday evening on a reported two-vehicle crash.
One vehicle was still in the road while the other was up on the terrace and sidewalk on the south side of Madison Street.
The driver of the second vehicle was said to be smelling of alcohol and attempted to mask it by starting to chew on multiple pieces of gum.
The 58-year-old man claimed the other vehicle “came out of nowhere” and showed other signs of intoxication.
He claimed to be sober, but failed a field sobriety test.
He was also found to have three prior OWI arrests.
The driver of the other vehicle did not initially complain of any injuries, but after getting out of the vehicle, told police they were going to the hospital for treatment.
The 58-year-old man was arrested on his 4th OWI Causing Injury.
