
Freedom scored the last 14 points in the first half to take a 21 to 6 halftime lead and never looked back as they defeated the Two Rivers Raiders 34 to 14 in a Northeast Conference football game at Jerry Bonino Field in Two Rivers Saturday afternoon.
The Raiders hurt themselves by allowing five quarterback sacks and turning the ball over three times, including a fumble recovery on the end zone by Irish linebacker Gage Strelka in the third quarter.
Freedom quarterback Owen Henkel completed 20 of 26 passes for 296 yards and two touchdowns. His favorite target was wide receiver Aiden Aerts, who caught 10 passes for 100 yards and a touchdown.
Running Back Nixon Heinke added touchdown runs of 1 and 4 yards.
Two Rivers scored on a 10-yard touchdown pass from Noah Shillcox to JJ Lichterman and a 5-yard touchdown run by Max Mathias.
Freedom wins its seventh straight road game, dating back to last season, and improves to 3-0 on the season.
Two Rivers remains winless at 0-3. The Raiders’ next game is scheduled for September 12th, as they travel to Denmark to play the Vikings. The kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
