
The Manitowoc Lutheran Lancers opened Big East Conference play by defeating Howards Grove 50 to 16 at “Coach Heiderich Field” at Lancer Circle Friday night.
The Lancers dominated from start to finish by putting up 518 yards of total offense, 400 of it on the ground, while holding the Tigers to 185 yards of total offense and just 31 yards on the ground.
Senior Issac Wagner had 11 carries for 116 yards and two touchdowns of 6 and 20 yards to lead the Lancers’ ground game.
Manitowoc Lutheran ran 72 plays to the Tigers’ 44 and piled up 29 first downs compared to just 8 for Howards Grove.
The Lancers have outscored their opponents by a combined 118 to 28 as they improve to 1 and 0 in the Big East conference, 3 and 0 overall.
Howards Grove loses its first game of the year and is 0-1 in the Big East and 2-1 overall.
Manitowoc Lutheran’s next game will be at Cedar Grove-Belgium on September 12th at 7 p.m.
