Future construction on curb and gutter will cost the City of Two Rivers more than expected.
The city council approved a $342,593 bid from Vinton Construction for curb and gutter work as well as other paving for the Sandy Bay Highlands Subdivision.
City engineering cost estimates put the work at around $296,000.
However, City Manager Kyle Kordell informed the council that Vinton was the only company to submit a bid.
Due to the higher cost, the city will halt future construction on the pedestrian trail in the area.
City Engineer Matt Heckenlaible says there is still money available for completing the subdivision, but the gravel trail will have to wait to be fully paved.
Work done by Vinton Construction will include preparing the base and installing the curb and gutter.
The council unanimously approved the bid.
