It’s another busy day of local sports, including football, soccer, and volleyball games on the calendar.
A pair of 2 and 0 teams square off in the Big East conference football opener tonight as Manitowoc Lutheran hosts Howards Grove at “Coach Heiderich Field.”
The Lancers have defeated Roncalli and Mishicot by a combined score of 68 to 12, thanks to a dominant defense and a balanced offense led by senior quarterback Jaymen Ott.
The Tigers are off to a strong start, defeating Milwaukee King 20 to 14, and Living Word Lutheran in their home opener last Friday by a score of 38 to 21.
Other games have Manitowoc Lincoln hosting Oshkosh North in their FRCC opener at Rubick Field.

Elsewhere, Mishicot opens Packerland conference play hosting Peshtigo, Wrightstown plays at Sheboygan Falls, Sheboygan South heads to Green Bay East, Notre Dame Academy of Green Bay travels to Sheboygan North, Plymouth entertains Portage, Kewaunee visits Oconto, Oostburg has a non-conference road game at Greenfield, Hilbert plays at Random Lake/ Ozaukee, and Luxemburg-Casco hosts Denmark.
Other games include Ashwaubenon hosting Appleton West, Green Bay Preble visiting Bay Port, De Pere is on the road for Pulaski, West De Pere hosts Green Bay Southwest, Green Bay West entertains Menasha, Sturgeon Bay plays at Marinette, and Southern Door is at Bonduel to battle the Bears.
There are also several boys’ high school soccer matches scheduled.
They include Kiel at Sturgeon Bay, the co-op of New Holstein entertains Little Chute in New Holstein, Central Wisconsin Christian plays at Sheboygan Christian/ Lutheran, and Green Bay NEW Lutheran heads up to Door County to play Washington Island.
In Girls’ volleyball, Kohler hosts Sheboygan Lutheran, and Sheboygan Christian hosts Central Wisconsin Christian.
