An area fire department is preparing to honor the courage and sacrifice of first responders and veterans this weekend.
The Town of Sheboygan Fire Department will be the site of the annual Tunnels to Towers 5K Run/Walk taking place on Saturday (September 6th), beginning at 9:00 a.m.
This event is inspired by the heroic efforts of Stephen Siller, a firefighter who lost his life on September 11th, 2001, in New York City.
On Saturday, in addition to the 5K, Zac Matthews will provide live musical entertainment, and a brat fry will be held in partnership with Miesfeld’s.
Bib and shirt pickup will be available on Friday (September 5th) from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., as well as 7:00 a.m. on race day.
During the 5K, roads in the Town of Sheboygan will not be closed; however, motorists are asked to exercise extreme caution when driving within the designated race route, which will be clearly marked.
Local law enforcement, fire, and EMS personnel will be stationed throughout the route while the event is taking place.
