Law enforcement impersonator scams continue to hit communities, this time in Fond du Lac County.
The Fond du Lac Police Department has received numerous reports from residents that scammers are making phone calls impersonating Lieutenant Noble.
While Lieutenant Noble is a member of the department, they have assured those concerned that he is not making phone calls demanding money from Fond du Lac residents.
The scammers continue to tell victims that they have missed a fake jury duty date and will be faced with legal action if they do not send money to the caller.
They will also utilize Google Voice phone numbers and voicemails to falsely identify themselves as local officers to sound more convincing.
Fond du Lac PD has stated that if you are selected for jury duty, you will receive a written letter from the Clerk of Courts, not a phone call that ends in demands for money to avoid legal trouble.
If you receive such a phone call, it is advised to check an agency’s official phone number to directly verify the claims made by potential scammers.
While this most recent scam was reported in Fond du Lac, such scams continue to hit Northeastern Wisconsin, with local police departments and sheriff’s offices reporting similar claims in recent months.
