Sports fields at Two Rivers High School could be improved in the future.
Two Rivers Public Schools Curriculum Director Kyle Korinek explained on WOMT’s Be My Guest program that the district is working together on creating a capital donation campaign to make improvements at the high school’s courts and fields.
“There are five key areas the district is focusing on.
Korinek explained that “they include the football and soccer fields, the baseball and softball diamonds, the areas for track and field, and the tennis and pickleball courts.”
The clay-based soil underneath the playing surfaces is starting to take its toll on the fields and tracks.
“There’s a lot of heaving and a lot of movement of that substrate, which is breaking apart some of that concrete,” Korinek explained. “And it’s adding cracked tracks and tennis courts, so we have quite a bit of safety challenges for our athletes.”
The project is in the very early stages, but the district’s administration team is working on putting together promotional materials.
It will include a short video and photos to show the community why the project is needed.
The district is also working on creating a website to help collect donations.
Korinek, along with Superintendent Diane Johnson, will be going out into the community to get renderings for future improvements.
