A man in Green Bay is facing charges after telling police he wanted to step on the neck of his girlfriend and kill her.
WBAY reports that Green Bay Police were called to a hotel after the girlfriend reported being with 62-year-old Floyd Simmons, her on-again, off-again boyfriend.
Simmons was allegedly drinking alcohol when he left for about 30 minutes. When he returned, his girlfriend said he appeared to be on drugs and demanded rent from her.
She argued she hadn’t moved into his apartment when the 62-year-old grabbed the girlfriend by the neck.
She said she couldn’t breathe and almost lost consciousness. However, she didn’t want to press charges.
Green Bay Police eventually found Simmons walking near his apartment, and while taking him into custody, he allegedly said he should have stomped on her (the girlfriend’s) neck and killed her.
Officers said that because of Simmons’ actions, which included kicking a squad car door and yelling racial slurs toward them, his threats were credible based on the violent nature of the charges he was arrested for and his “blatant disregard for human life.”
Simmions faces charges of attempted 1st-degree intentional homicide, strangulation and suffocation, threatening to cause bodily harm against an official, and other charges.
He will return to court today for an initial appearance, where his bond will be set.
