The City of Sheboygan will get some new city buses through state and federal grant funding.
The Shoreline Metro Transit System will earn a federal share of $2.1 million to purchase five heavy-duty buses to replace five others.
The money comes from the Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) Improvement Program, which supports local projects aimed at reducing traffic delays and air pollution.
Governor Tony Evers’ Office explains that the federal program is administered by WisDOT.
Over $22 million in CMAQ funds will go out to 16 other communities, especially around Milwaukee and Waukesha Counties.
It’s part of Evers’s efforts to bolster the state’s clean energy infrastructure, ensuring Wisconsin’s communities are prepared to address the needs of the 21st Century.
