A man who tried to rob a Grand Chute coin store has been convicted.
FOX11 reports that 33-year-old Beau Wastel was found guilty due to a no-contest plea to being a party to armed robbery.
Four other counts were dismissed but read into the record.
The criminal complaint states that Wastel walked into Affordable Rare Coins wearing a wig in Grand Chute on August 10th, last year, and asked to see a baseball card in one of the cases.
When the employee bent over, the 33-year-old hit the person on the head with a wrench.
Wastel then chased the employee out of the building with the wrench before going to the back of the store, smashing a display case, and stealing property from the store.
Two other individuals involved, Michael Thorpe and Cory Schmitz, have also appeared in court.
Thorpe was sentenced to 16 years in prison, while Schmitz is scheduled to return to court for a pre-trial conference on September 11th.
Wastel was working with Schmitz, who introduced him to Thorp. The complaint says Thorp told Wastel he had a “lick” and that it would be an easy way to get $15,000.
