The Suamico teen charged with attempting to kill his mother has returned to court.
Court documents show that 16-year-old Ramone A. Waupoose was present inside a Brown County Courtroom on Monday (August 25th) as he faces charges of Attempted First-Degree Intentional Homicide and First-Degree Reckless Injury.
At Monday’s status hearing, Judge Tammy Jo Hock ordered the teen to undergo a competency hearing after Waupoose’s lawyer raised concerns about the matter during his initial appearance earlier this month.
FOX11 reports that Waupoose’s mother called police on July 16th, stating that her son, who she described as having autism, attacked her with a large pruning shears.
The 16-year-old’s behavior became increasingly concerning to his mother, who hid all sharp or dangerous objects in the home, inside her car, out of worries that he would harm himself.
However, the mother missed a large pruning shears. Later that night, Waupoose found the shears and attacked his mother, who was able to escape despite sustaining significant injuries to her face, head, and arms that left her bleeding from the face when police arrived.
Authorities later found messages on the teen’s phone indicating that he wished to kill his mother and ex-girlfriend.
