Salome “Sally” D. Swetlik, age 81, of Manitowoc, passed away on Monday, August 18, 2025, at Rivers Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center in Manitowoc.
Sally was born on September 14, 1943 in Manitowoc, a daughter of the late Ludwig and Virginia (Bolle) Swetlik. She was a graduate of Mishicot High School, and following high school, she received her bachelor’s and master’s degree in social work at Louisiana State University. After retiring as a social worker from the Louisiana Parish schools, she opened her private counselling service.
Her life was full of wonderful and varied experiences, including co-ownership of a saloon, traveling worldwide, casino trips, and a proud holder of season tickets for the New Orleans Saints games.
Survivors include her siblings: Lydia Wolf, Stanley (Diane) Swetlik, Ann Bajdan, Mary (Jim) McTrusty; step siblings: Beverly Welnetz, Ronnie Trochil, Sue (Arthur) Faulkner, and Jim (Michelle) Trochil; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Ludwig and Virginia Swetlik; stepmother: Lucille Kellner Trochil Swetlik; one brother-in-law: Don Wolf; two step siblings: Jim Welnetz and Bette Trochil; and special friend: Bunnie Robinson.
A Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Kellnersville. Rev. Brian Belongia will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial, with burial to follow in the Parish cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 9:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am.
The family would like to thank Rivers Bend Health Services and Heartland Hospice for the care and concern given to Sally, and a special thank you to the staff of the Manitowoc Public Library Homebound Services.
