It’s “cutdown” day in the National Football League, as a member of the player personnel department known as the “Turk” knocks on your door and says in so many words, “the coach wants to see you and bring your playbook.”
Players released so far by the Green Bay Packers, according to JS online, are quarterbacks Sean Clifford and Taylor Elgersma, running backs Amar Johnson, Tyrion Davis-Price and Isreal Abanikanda, wide receivers Mecole Hardman, Cornelius Johnson, Julian Hicks, Will Sheppard and Isiah Neyor, tight ends Johnny Lumpkin and Messiah Swinson, guards J.J. Lippe and Tyler Cooper, guard/center Lecitus Smith, tackle Brant Banks, offensive linemen Trey Hill and Kadeem Telfort, cornerbacks Kalen King, Corey Ballentine and Johnathan Baldwin, defensive linemen James Ester and Devonte O’Malley, defensive end Deslin Alexandre, and linebackers Jamon Johnson, Isiah Simmons and Jared Bartlett.
Meanwhile, ESPN’s Rob Demovsky reports that running back Marshawn Lloyd and offensive lineman Jacob Monk have been placed on the injured list/designated for return.
The Packers have also, according to Demovsky, placed wide receiver Christian Watson, defensive lineman Collin Oliver, and guard John Williams on the reserve/PUP (physically unable to perform) list while safety Omar Brown heads to injured reserve.
Teams can sign 16 players to their practice squad beginning at 11 a.m. Wednesday morning (tomorrow), with the possibility of some of these players returning to Green Bay on that squad.
