The University of Wisconsin-Madison has announced the closure of its long-running tutoring initiative, Academic Coaching to Thrive and Succeed (ACTS).
According to a university statement, similar academic support services are now available through other campus programs, making ACTS redundant.
The program began nearly three decades ago to fill a gap in tutoring resources.
It will now be phased out and will affect about 40 tutors who were part of the staff.
University officials say the decision to end ACTS was made several months prior to the announcement.
