One person was injured during a house fire in Appleton.
WBAY reports that the Appleton Fire Department was called to the 1100 block of West Summer Street just after 4:00 a.m. on a report of a house fire with smoke and flames visible.
When fire crews arrived, everyone had already evacuated the home.
Smoke was found at the front door before flames were found in the kitchen.
The fire was extinguished in about five minutes; however, a person had to be taken to the hospital for burns and smoke inhalation.
The damage to the home was about $30,000.
APD reminds residents to practice safe cooking by not leaving anything unattended on the stove and not storing combustible materials on top of it.
