Manitowoc Lincoln dropped three of four matches in the season-opening Green Bay Preble Invitational Thursday and Friday.
The Ships defeated Wausau East 5 to 2, lost 5 to 2 to Kimberly, 6 to 1 to Stevens Point, and to Oshkosh West 4 to 3.
The Ship’s top doubles tandem of Taylor Peterson and Jordan Popp was dominant, winning all four of their matches in straight sets, losing just seven games in eight sets.
Other highlights included the Ships sweeping the three doubles matches in the victory over Wausau East, and coach Stephanie Henschel was able to play a lot of young players in singles to test their skills against some of the best teams in the state.
Lincoln returns to action Saturday (this morning) at The Wauwatosa West Invitational. Matches begin at 9 a.m.
