Tens of thousands of pounds of chorizo beef have been recalled nationwide.
The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has announced that approximately 32,000 pounds of meat produced by Sabrositos Hondurenos has been recalled due to production without the benefit of federal inspection.
The products in question are various 14-ounce packages of Olancho-branded meats, including chorizo sausages, pork chops, and smoked ribs.
These recalled items were shipped with a false establishment number that will read Est. 1785.
The chorizo beef was shipped nationally, to both retail and restaurant locations, including here in Wisconsin.
In addition to these recalled items, the FSIS has stated that as more information becomes available, additional products are likely to be added.
Anyone with the Olancho meats in their possession is advised to throw them out or return them to their place of purchase.
A complete list of recalled items, as well as product labels, can be found online by visiting fsis.usda.gov.
