Two immigrants have been sentenced to time in prison for sexual assault and human trafficking of a child.
Fond du Lac District Attorney Eric Toney announced that 32-year-old Juan Carlos Rocha Mejia will spend 40 years in prison for the sexual assault.
It’s directly related to the human trafficking of 35-year-old Elia Antonio’s 12-year-old daughter.
Antonio will spend 34 years in prison for letting the assault happen.
Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a home in the Town of Oakfield last year after the victim ran to a house after Rocha Mejia attempted to sexually assault her in a van.
The daughter managed to fend off the 32-year-old and ran to a nearby home before he could get her back into the van he was driving.
It was later learned that Antonio took money to allow Rocha Mejia to have time with her daughter.
According to the criminal complaint, Antonio said that she didn’t know what to do since Rocha Mejia was threatening to take the 12-year-old away forever.
DA Toney said the 35-year-old failed as a mother and has forfeited the title of mom by her actions while Rocha Meia, “committed a horrific assault from a position of trust in paying $250 to rape a child.
Both defendants were illegally in the United States, with Rocha Mejia entering the United States in 2021.”
