A nine-year-old from Kenosha was hurt Tuesday after accidentally discharging a firearm.
The firearm involved reportedly belonged to a Kenosha police officer.
Authorities report the child managed to open a locked gun safe, resulting in a minor hand injury.
The firearm was not the officer’s service weapon.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing, according to the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office.
