Some clients at Ascend Services were outside yesterday serving up some refreshing lemonade.
Each cup of lemonade was available by donation, which Executive Director Deanna Genske said worked out very well.
“Some people come in and donate $10 for a glass, and some people are doing their $1,” she said with a chuckle.
As for what the money will go towards, Genske explained it will “go back into our day service program. So helping us with furthering our programs, our services, and our mission at Ascend Services.”
There were many Ascend clients outside waving down cars and pouring cup after cup of homemade lemonade, including Travis Boettcher, who told us, “I’m having a lot of fun. We’ve had a lot of customers so far.”
Destiny Otto was standing behind the table when we arrived, and she was responsible for filling the cups.
“I’ve been serving lemonade,” she explained. “Probably about ten people.”
Everyone was having a wonderful time helping raise money for their program.
And if you were wondering, the lemonade was delicious.
