A man from Appleton is going to prison for hitting a bicyclist with his vehicle.
Court records show that 29-year-old Alic Riedel appeared in an Outagamie County courtroom on Monday (August 18th) for his sentencing hearing.
Riedel had previously been convicted in May due to a no contest plea to one felony count of Hit and Run Involving Great Bodily Harm.
At Monday’s hearing, Judge Yadira Rein ordered the 29-year-old to spend two years behind bars followed by four years on extended supervision.
He is also required to pay more than $18,000 in restitution.
Riedel was arrested in July of last year for the incident that took place in the 400 block of North Meade Street in Appleton.
Authorities say that he struck a person riding their bike and left the scene.
The victim suffered “massive” injuries, including head injuries, and required extensive medical attention.
Reidel told police that he thought someone threw a rock at his car, but kept driving.
