A collaboration between Lakeland University and Sheboygan North High School is expanding to include schools in Sheboygan and Manitowoc Counties.
Lakeland has announced that the Innovator Fellowship program has grown to include Roncalli, Kohler, and Elkhart Lake High Schools in the 2025-2026 school year.
The Innovator Fellowship encourages students to explore pressing issues in the community and unique career paths that are beyond traditional classroom work.
One of those pressing matters was tackled head-on by Sheboygan North’s Aoife Meyer, a member of the program last year, who created Foster Focus, a community-driven project that aimed to raise awareness for youth in out-of-home care throughout Sheboygan County.

Through her work with the fellowship, Meyer raised $3,500 to set up a scholarship fund for youth in out-of-home care.
This is just one example of the positive effect this program can have on the community, and now more students will have the opportunity to make an impact.
Regarding these new opportunities being offered to high schoolers in Sheboygan and Manitowoc Counties, Stephanie Hoskins, Lakeland’s Herbert Kohler & Frank Jacobson Chair in Business and Entrepreneurship, said, “We are excited to introduce the Innovator Fellowship program to a new group of students this fall.”
She added, “Our five North High students this past school year showed how young people can tackle a variety of ways to make a positive impact in our community. It’s exciting to expand that opportunity to more students throughout the region.”
After continued and increasing success, Lakeland is also planning for further expansion of the Innovator Fellowship program in the 2026-2027 academic year.
Any school interested in joining the program is encouraged to contact the university by emailing if@lakeland.edu for more information.
