The donations have started flooding in for a Sheboygan County Scout Troop.
Plymouth’s Scout Troop 851 is currently stranded in St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands, as unforeseen circumstances regarding flights due to an impending hurricane have not allowed them to fly back home.
The group had set out to the Virgin Islands for an opportunity for learning, service, and building lifelong memories.
As of now, the earliest possible flights home are not until Friday (August 22nd) or Saturday (August 23rd), and these extra days have unexpected expenses for the trip.
The group consists of six scouts and four adults who are now left wondering when they will be able to come back.
A GoFundMe has been set up by Sara Lee Reysen, one of the moms currently stuck in St. Thomas, and as of this morning, donations have totaled more than $11,000, with over 100 people helping out the troop.
The GoFundMe states, “These young men have worked hard to prepare for this trip, showing dedication, teamwork, and the spirit of Scouting. Now, they need your help to complete their journey.”
