The Wisconsin Department of Justice has released the name of the suspect in an officer-involved shooting in De Pere last month.
Attorney General Josh Kaul says law enforcement was called just before 1:00 p.m. to the Perkofski Boat Launch in the City of De Pere for a person armed with a rifle.
Members of the De Pere Police Department, Ashwaubenon Public Safety, and Brown County Sheriff’s Office tried to negotiate with the suspect, 44-year-old Scott H. McDonald.
Shortly after, McDonald produced a rifle, and five law enforcement officials fired their weapons at him.
Aid was attempted to try to save the 44-year-old, but he died at the scene.
Three officers from the Ashwaubenon Public Safety and the De Pere Police Department were placed on administrative leave, and they were wearing body cameras during the incident.
The Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is still investigating the incident to determine the facts.
It will turn over the reports to the Brown County District Attorney’s Office when it concludes.
