Some local and area businesses earned top honors in a competition through the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection.
Members of the Something Special from Wisconsin program competed in the 2025 Wisconsin State Fair Grand Champion Eats and Treats competition, including Adam’s Heirlooms of Mishicot.
The local food producer took home 3rd place for their Strawberry Basil Shrub in the Super Sips category. In this case, a shrub is not a plant, but rather a tangy and sweet drinking vinegar made from fruit, vinegar, and sugar.
Starla’s Seasonings, Dips, and Mixes of Belgium also picked up a bunch of awards.
They include 1st place for their Key Lime Pie in the Delightful Dips category and 1st place for their Mango Chipotle Seasoning Mix in the spices category.
The business also got 1st place in the Marvelous Mixes category for their garlic and herb beer bread mix.
Gold Coast Candy in Appleton and Mister Burns LLC also picked up some awards at the state fair.
Something Special From Wisconsin Program Director Lois Federman thanked the state fair staff who “work to ensure this event is a success and provide an outlet through which Something Special from Wisconsin businesses can showcase their culinary creations. These products are not just items on a shelf; they are a testament to the hard work and creativity of local artisans and farmers who take pride in their craft.”
