The Aging & Disability Resource Center of the Lakeshore will be offering a fall prevention program next month.
The county-wide organization is teaming up with the Kiel Community Center to host “Stepping On”, a seven-week program aimed at helping keep elders safe in their homes.
It is estimated that one in three people aged 65 and older falls at least once per year. Many of these falls result in broken bones and other types of disabilities, hospitalizations, and, in some cases, even death.
“Stepping On” is described as a “fun and interactive evidence-based falls prevention program aimed at educating participants and building confidence in order to reduce and/or eliminate falls.”
The series will be held on Thursdays from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., September 11th through October 23rd.
A $10 suggested donation helps to defray the cost of materials; however, the class itself is free, and all printed materials are yours to keep.
