Bond has been set, and charges have been handed to the suspect of a recent shooting in Grand Chute.
Court records show that 47-year-old Ondra L. Toombs, originally from Florida, is facing numerous charges, including Attempted First-Degree Intentional Homicide with the Use of a Dangerous Weapon, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Out-of-State Felon, Battery or Threat to a Law Enforcement Officer. Toombs made his initial appearance in Outagamie County court on Wednesday (August 13th), where Judge Mitchell Metropulos set his bond at $1 million cash.
FOX11 reports that the Grand Chute Police Department was called to the Budget Inn on August 8th on a report of a woman who had suffered a gunshot wound to the chest.
Witness accounts of the incident revealed to police that Toombs and the 42-year-old woman had allegedly argued before Toombs produced a firearm and shot her.
It is further reported that the 47-year-old later attacked officers at the Grand Chute police station after being apprehended.
Toombs has a long history of run-ins with the law, with over 30 convictions in the state of Florida, and was a little more than a month removed from serving time in prison.
He will be back in court on August 21st for his preliminary hearing.
