The skies of Manitowoc will be lit up tonight (August 15th) with hot air balloons.
The Lakeshore Balloon Glow gets underway from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the parking lot in front of the Manitowoc Public Library.
Manitowoc Mayor Justin Nickel says the event will include “Food trucks, corn on the cob by the Manitowoc Lions Club. Beverage for everyone of all ages. There will be balloon animals, face painting, bounce houses, all the stuff for family fun.”
The water ski show starts at 5:30 p.m., and the fireworks will end the night at 8:30 p.m. near the riverfront.
Due to the event’s popularity and the limited availability of parking spaces downtown, the city will offer a trolley service at three different locations.
They include the JFK Fieldhouse parking lot at Lincoln High School, Roncalli High School’s parking lot, and the parking lot of Faith Church.
The buses depart at 4:45 p.m. from each site and will continue to loop throughout the night in 30-minute segments.
The last shuttles will leave the event grounds around 9:00 p.m.
The event raises money for improvements downtown. For more information about the Lakeshore Balloon Glow, visit visitmanitowoc.org/events.
